How someone’s personal, social & professional life can be affected by Banking & Shopping using I.C.T.
For a long time ICT has been used by banks and shops using it for things like a “hole in the wall” and for things like receipts, card processing etc. Now with the birth of information technology and the advancements online services have been created. Many people still use the banks and shops nowadays but more and more people are starting to use online banking and shopping services. It is more flexible for customers because they do not have to wait in a queue and can do it at home. With online banking you can pay your bills, view the amount of money you have, transfer money between accounts or even make a new account online. Online shopping is also good as it is convenient and prices are considerably cheaper compared to retail price. It also allows people to purchase goods overseas and is done instantly without having to go down the shops to buy something. Websites like Tesco allows you to do your grocery shopping online and you can either collect in store or just get it home delivered.
The disadvantages are for banking is that there is a loss of one to one service between customer and banker as there is no need to speak to a human being. Some people do not trust online banking as they feel it is safer to go to a bank itself. The disadvantages for shopping is that sometimes the delivery can be delayed so if you want something there is a chance it could arrive late. You may also have to pay shipping cost compared to going to the shop and paying for the items itself. People will also be less active by ordering online making them unfit as well as the fact that your social communication will be reduced as the customer helpline will mainly be a computer.
