Advantages
- Documents on Google Docs are saved to Google’s servers. Therefore if your computer’s hard drive crashes, you won’t lose the document that you've been working on. - Google Docs offers the feature of allowing people to view past edits. - Documents can be shared, opened, and edited by multiple users at the same time. - Google offers one of the best services for cloud computing document sharing. - While other cloud computing services charge fees, Google Docs is free. |
Disadvantages
- There is lack of quality in Google Docs. - Limited formatting ability. - Allows more than one user to work on a document at any given time. - Can experience lag during "peak" hours, usually during the day. - May not export properly/poor format transition. - Cannot be accessed offline. |
Possible enhancements
A possible enhancement for Google Docs could be that all the documents should work offline meaning they work can still work without internet which would be helpful for people who don’t have word or other software’s similar to it. There could be an offline video to help users out when they get stuck or to show how to use the features in Google Docs.
Fitness for purpose
I do believe Google Docs is fit for purpose because it provides people with a similar process as Microsoft word and any other similar software’s. It allows people to write what they desire, create documents and posters/leaflets.
